Judyta Daria Potocka is a visual artist and a filmmaker born in Poland.
She has worked as a Director of Photography across the UK on indie short and feature film. Mei Bignall’s directorial debut Butterfly, Lost was also Judyta's first feature which premiered last year at Vue Cinema in Piccadilly Circus. She works closely with her partner, writer and director Laurence McManus, their medium length film The Wind and the Whimpering has recently entered festival circuit, they are curently working on a feature length film to be shot in Poland. In the autumn of 2021 she shot with previous collaborator Joe Olmstead his new short Bert & Amanda.
Her personal work focuses on auto reflective research taking experimental and autobiographical forms, exploring filmmaking as an inescapably voyeuristic act and camera as an active agent in construction of identity and its possibility to extend as a transitional tool for exploration one's identity. Her work was published in the international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal of surveillance studies Surveillance & Society. A long term academic passion of hers, Judyta's ambition is to move her work closer to psychoanalytic discourse.
After years abroad Judyta moved back to her homeland, and currently lives in Kraków where she is expanding her practice in Applied Drama and Theatre of the Oppressed; participating in social projects.
