Tending to Dreams is an auto-ethnographic, arts-based research project examining the creative process, dreams and rituals, and exploring filmmaking as a vessel for personal and professional creative development. Exploring the potential of filmmaking expressing the Self.
The project further expands on the possibilities of Filmmaking as an Alchemical Vessel™ (FAV), an original approach grounded in analytical psychology which contextualises filmmaking as a metaphorical vessel and a contemporary container for projection, amplification and transformation of the psyche. This concept was first explored in a Master's dissertation in Art Therapy Studies and was later published as an abridged chapter in the book Post-Traumatic Growth and Film/Video-Based Therapy. FAV™ offers the possibility of developing one's own 'alchemical' method by working through the structure of filmmaking and using the array of filmmaking tools in ways applicable to research and therapy.
The project is being developed through independent, self-directed research informed by conceptual and analytical discussions with subject specialists.
